Privacy policy

CTY prepares and files your company's Corporation Tax return on your own computer. We never receive your figures, your documents or your sign-in.
1. Who we are
This policy explains how CTY, a desktop app for macOS and Windows made by Datamediate Oy ("we", "us"), handles information. Datamediate Oy is based in Espoo, Finland.
2. Information we collect
None through the app. CTY has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising, and it does not check for updates. Nothing you enter in CTY is sent to Datamediate Oy.
The only information we receive is what you choose to send us, for example if you email us for support.
3. Information stored on your computer
Your company's figures, the documents CTY prepares, the exact submission sent to HMRC and HMRC's response are saved in files on your computer, in the place you choose. They stay under your control, and you can move, copy or delete them like any other file.
Your Government Gateway user ID and password are never saved. They are held in memory only while a submission is being sent, then erased, and they are removed from HMRC's response before it is saved.
4. What CTY sends, and to whom
CTY connects to two places, and only when you ask it to:
- HMRC, when you press Test in Live or submit. CTY sends the return, accounts and computation together with your Government Gateway sign-in, directly to HMRC's filing service over an encrypted connection. The HMRC address is fixed when CTY is built and cannot be changed by any setting.
- Companies House, when you look up your company. CTY reads the company's public register pages, sending only the company registration number. No account or sign-in is involved.
HMRC and Companies House handle what they receive under their own privacy notices. CTY does not connect to any other service, and it does not load content from the internet.
5. Filing accounts at Companies House
CTY does not file with Companies House. It lays out your figures for you to copy into Companies House's own service, which you use directly with your own sign-in.
6. If you contact us
If you email us, we use what you send only to reply to you, and keep it for as long as needed to deal with your request. We do not share it with anyone, unless required by law. Please don't send us your Government Gateway sign-in.
7. Your rights
For any information we hold about you, you have the right to request access to it, correction or deletion of it, and to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi), or with the data protection authority where you live.
8. Genuine copies
A copy of CTY from anywhere other than its official releases may not behave as this policy describes. Download CTY only from its official releases and check it against the published checksums.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
